REACH

Rise Above. Reach Beyond.

MEET TISHA

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF REACH

At the heart of REACH is the belief that people deserve more than simply surviving what life has required of them. They deserve support and opportunities to discover who they are beyond those experiences.

With a Master of Social Work background, Tisha brings together lived experience and a multidisciplinary background spanning business, healthcare management, organizational leadership, and community programming, along with a deep commitment to the work and vision of REACH.

Yet the story behind REACH is deeply personal.

It began with a life.

A Letter From the Founder

REACH was birthed from my own experience of understanding what it means to survive.

For years, my life was just about holding everything together. Carrying responsibility, looking out for everyone else, solving problems, and doing what had to be done. Stopping just wasn't a choice. When you live like that, people get used to seeing you as strong and capable. But nobody sees what that strength is actually costing you.

There came a point in my life when I began realizing that I had become very good at surviving, but surviving was never supposed to be the destination.

There is a difference between functioning and being fulfilled. And there is a difference between being strong because you choose to be and being strong because life never gave you permission to put anything down.

That realization challenged me to look beyond the roles I had carried and consider who I was outside of them.

Who am I beyond all the roles I have carried? Beyond being the person people depend on? Beyond being a mother, partner, professional, provider, leader, daughter, and everything else life has required me to be?

Who am I when I am not performing a role for somebody else? And what does my life look like when I finally give myself permission to choose me?

That process taught me that healing isn't always about fixing something that is broken. Sometimes healing is recovering the parts of yourself that you had to postpone while you were surviving. Sometimes it is rediscovering what you enjoy, what you believe, and who you are becoming.

So many people move through life appearing strong and capable while carrying experiences and burdens others may never see. They have endured trauma, loss, disappointment, challenging relationships, life transitions, and circumstances that have shaped their lives in ways they never chose. Some have spent years reaching out for everybody else while quietly wondering who is reaching back for them.

That exact understanding became part of what shaped REACH. Not simply a desire to help people navigate difficult circumstances, but a deep belief that what someone has survived should never determine who they are able to become.

I want REACH to create spaces, experiences, connections, and opportunities where people can heal, grow, learn, laugh, discover, and recognize possibilities they may not have previously considered.

I know what it means to survive. Somewhere along my own journey, I realized I wanted more than survival for myself. I wanted to live, heal, rediscover myself, experience new things, and become the woman I knew was still somewhere underneath everything life had required of me.

My story was where this started, but my purpose was always intended to reach beyond me.

That is the heart of REACH. A vision born from my journey, but built with the hope that others are given an opportunity to discover what lies beyond their own.

With purpose,

Bertisha Scott
